Well, I can cross that off the “bucket list.” I have always wanted to fly to Fox Field (KWJF) in Lancaster, California (my home airport) to visit home! On 1/26/2011, I had the opportunity to do just that. In a little over 4 hours, I flew from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (KIWA) to Fox.
It was an incredible journey that took me through some really spectacular scenery. One of my favorite parts of the trip was when I crossed the Colorado River on the border of Arizona and California (I crossed state lines over Blythe, CA).
Waiting for me at Fox was my “groovy” mom, my Grandpa Robert, my Grandma Bonnie and Mrs. Liz Breault. After the ensuing hug-fest, we all went inside and ate lunch at Foxy’s restaurant, located on the Field.
After lunch, I surprised my friends Jeff and Kerry from High Desert Avionics by “popping in” to say hello! It took Ms. Kerry a few good seconds to recognize me. That’s the beauty of flying – I can be in another state within a few hours!
After more hugs and a whole bunch of pictures, I was back up in the big blue sky headng back to my home away from home.
I am looking forward to where my next adventure will take me. El Paso? Las Vegas? Albuquerque?
Blue Skies,
Jake
